Definition of Immunization

Vaccination:Vaccinations function by activating the body's natural defense mechanism against diseases. A healthy immune system can identify harmful bacteria and viruses and generate antibodies to eliminate or neutralize them. Vaccinations equip the immune system to combat diseases effectively. For viral diseases, vaccines contain viruses that have been weakened or inactivated. For bacterial diseases, just a small fragment of the dead bacteria is used to prompt the production of antibodies against the entire bacteria. Besides the initial immunization, research shows that the efficacy of vaccines can be enhanced with periodic booster shots. Refer to Vaccinations (as a general term) and specific types of Vaccination (such as specific diseases).
