The gallbladder is then extracted through one of these incisions. This method allows for a shorter hospital stay and a quicker recovery with reduced pain. However, potential complications can include bleeding, infection, and damage to the intestines or major blood vessels.Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a safe and effective treatment option for most patients experiencing symptoms related to gallstones and is now the preferred method for many. It reduces pain and recovery time without increasing the risk of death or overall complications. Although there is a slightly higher risk of bile duct injury, this risk remains low enough to support the continued use of laparoscopic cholecystectomy for treating symptomatic gallstones.
