A partial seizure is a type of seizure that impacts only a specific region of the brain, and the symptoms vary depending on the affected area. During such a seizure, one or more parts of the body, typically confined to one side, may begin to shake uncontrollably. It can also cause head turning, unusual movements of the eyes, lip smacking, mouth motions, drooling, rhythmic muscle contractions, seemingly intentional movements, or odd sensations like numbness, tingling, or a crawling feeling on the skin. Additionally, partial seizures may involve sensory disruptions, such as hallucinating smells or sounds, or experiencing a sudden rush of emotions. Despite potential confusion, the person does not lose consciousness. This type of seizure is also referred to as a focal seizure or a local seizure.
