Rosacea is a long-lasting skin condition that leads to continuous redness on facial areas like the forehead, chin, and lower nose. In these regions, small blood vessels become enlarged and more visible, showing up as fine red lines, known as telangiectasias. Acne-like pimples may also appear. This condition typically affects individuals aged 30 to 60, particularly those with fair skin, and it impacts both men and women. Although women are more frequently affected, the condition is often more severe in men. While symptoms may fluctuate, they generally worsen over time. While there's no cure for rosacea, treatment options are available. These include topical antibiotics like metronidazole and oral antibiotics. Short-term use of appropriate-strength topical preparations can help reduce localized inflammation. To manage symptoms, it's advisable to avoid smoking, and certain foods and beverages that cause flushing, such as spicy foods, hot drinks, and alcohol, as well as other triggers like extreme temperatures.
