Definition of Eye bleed

Eye Bleed:Also known as a subconjunctival hemorrhage, this condition is frequently painless and often goes unnoticed until someone points it out or the person sees it in a mirror. It occurs when a small blood vessel bursts in the sclera, the eye's white part, causing a tiny amount of blood (less than a drop) to become trapped under the conjunctiva, similar to how blood is trapped under the skin in a bruise. Since it takes place beneath the conjunctiva, the clear membrane over the sclera, it is termed a subconjunctival hemorrhage. This type of hemorrhage can be triggered by activities like heavy lifting, coughing, sneezing, vomiting, or it may happen without any obvious reason. Although its appearance can be alarming, it is harmless and does not affect vision. There is no discharge from the eye, and the redness might change to brown or green before completely resolving within about three weeks as the blood is reabsorbed.Treatment is generally unnecessary for a subconjunctival hemorrhage. However, if there are any unusual symptoms, such as eye pain, altered vision, or if the condition does not improve within three weeks, it is advisable to consult a doctor. Sometimes, medical issues such as bleeding disorders or the use of blood-thinning medications like aspirin and Coumadin can contribute to the occurrence of subconjunctival hemorrhages.
