Definition of Congestive heart failure

Congestive heart failure

Heart Failure with Reduced Efficiency:This condition occurs when the heart cannot meet the body's demands, leading to an inefficient blood-pumping process. As a result, the heart fails to supply sufficient blood to vital organs like the brain, liver, and kidneys. Known as CHF, it can occur due to dysfunction in the right, left, or both ventricles. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing (often referred to as cardiac asthma), blood accumulation in the body or liver's circulation, swelling (edema), a bluish discoloration of the skin, and heart enlargement. Causes of CHF are varied and include conditions leading to heart attacks, weakening of the heart muscle (myocardium), primary muscle weakness from viral infections or toxins like chronic alcohol use, heart valve disorders causing either excessive blood leakage or stiffness, hyperthyroidism, and more.
