Definition of Superbug

Superbug: This term is used informally to describe bacteria that have developed resistance to the antibiotics typically employed to treat them, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) or any bacterium resistant to multiple drugs. Certain bacteria have been identified as resistant threats in healthcare environments or labeled "superbugs" in the media.
