Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) is a serious and potentially fatal condition characterized by extensive blistering and peeling of the skin. This disorder is most often triggered by a drug, although it can sometimes be caused by infections or other factors. In severe cases of TEN, the skin's ability to act as a barrier is significantly compromised, making the patient's condition similar to that of a burn victim.Prompt treatment requires identifying and discontinuing the causative drug or agent. Hospitalization is advised, and for severe cases, treatment in a burn unit is recommended. Additional treatments may include:- Intravenous fluids with careful monitoring- Protective bandages for areas where skin has peeled- Topical ointments- Pain management- Antibiotics or antiviral medications- Intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG)- Anticonvulsants
