Anorgasmia, also known as anorgasmy, is the inability of individuals, regardless of gender, to reach a climax during sexual activity. Psychologists identify anorgasmia as a "psychosexual dysfunction," suggesting it stems from psychological or emotional issues. Various factors can lead to anorgasmia, such as anxiety, depression, exhaustion, stress, guilt, fear of painful intercourse or pregnancy, dissatisfaction with a partner or the environment, and the consumption of alcohol or drugs. In women, this condition is sometimes called "female orgasmic dysfunction." The term "anorgasmia" originates from the Greek "an" (meaning without or not), "orgasmos" (meaning swell), and the Greek and Latin suffix "ia," which is often used in the names of medical conditions.
