Fibromyalgia is a condition marked by persistent pain, muscle stiffness, and tenderness in muscles, tendons, and joints, without any visible inflammation. It doesn't lead to bodily harm or deformities. Nevertheless, about 90% of those with fibromyalgia experience significant fatigue, and sleep disorders are frequently observed in these patients. Fibromyalgia often coexists with other rheumatic diseases, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) may also be present. There isn't a conclusive medical test for diagnosing fibromyalgia, so doctors diagnose it by ruling out other potential causes of the symptoms. The most effective approach to managing it involves a combination of education, stress reduction, exercise, and medication. The condition was once referred to as fibrositis.
