Definition of Acne vulgaris

Acne vulgaris

Acne vulgaris:This is the most prevalent type of acne found in teenagers and young adults, caused by the excessive activity of the skin's oil (sebaceous) glands, which can become clogged and inflamed. Acne usually begins during puberty when the oil glands are activated by male hormones produced in the adrenal glands of both boys and girls. To manage acne, it is important to maintain clean skin and steer clear of irritating soaps, foods, beverages, and cosmetics. For severe cases or acne prone to scarring, topical creams and oral medications may be used. Skin affected by acne can be enhanced with treatments from a dermatologist or facial specialist, including dermabrasion (sanding), laser scar removal, and chemical peels. It is also commonly referred to as pimples.
