Definition of Hyperbaric chamber

Hyperbaric Chamber: This is a specialized, pressurized enclosure designed to administer high-pressure oxygen therapy. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) involves inhaling pure oxygen within an enclosed space where the atmospheric pressure is increased to 1.5 to 3 times above the standard level. The patient is fully enclosed within the chamber for HBOT sessions. This form of therapy is a recognized treatment for decompression sickness, often associated with scuba diving. It is also used to address various other medical conditions, such as certain infections, wounds that are slow to heal, carbon monoxide poisoning, and the presence of air bubbles in the bloodstream. The hyperbaric chamber is a medical device approved by the US FDA.
