
Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer (ZIFT) is a procedure where a woman's egg is fertilized externally and then placed into one of her fallopian tubes. This method is employed to address infertility, which is the inability of couples to conceive naturally. Initially, the egg and sperm required for fertilization are collected. The egg is then combined with the sperm in a petri dish, which is a versatile glass or plastic container with a cover. If successful, the sperm fertilizes the egg, and doctors subsequently implant it into the fallopian tube. From this point, the natural process continues, with the egg eventually moving into the uterus for further development.A zygote, the cell formed when the sperm and egg unite, develops into an embryo. An embryo is a cluster of cells that does not yet resemble a human. Over approximately seven to eight weeks, the embryo starts to develop distinguishable features like a mouth and ears, at which point it is referred to as a fetus.
